Lady_Aiyoku is no more.....at least she won't be on LJ.  I'm be keeping it for Aim since there are what....three people that I talk to on AIM?  So that's not the worth the change.  But as I'm running two communities here AND my actively posting in other ones (not to mention friends LJs) I figured it was time for a change.

Lady Aiyoku is someone I was 10 years ago (yes I know, this journal is not that old).  She was a lot of fun, a creative person with wonderful ideas, but she was also young and inexperienced with more then a few harebrained notions of how the would SHOULD be.   I still have creative and fun ideas ( I so need to get my ass in gear and write that story) but I'm older and wiser....or at least I hope I'm wiser.  My focus has changed in more then a few ways from what it was 10 years ago, so I thought I would reflect that by making a new LJ.

Don't worry, I will not delete this account.  But I also won't be posting to it any more.  I'm not trying to wipe my past clean, just acknowledging that there is been a change in who I am.  Kuri, I'll still be your Ai :)  but from now on, here on LJ, I'm
Vigdisdotter.  So please friend my new account folks and I'll be seeing you.

Oh, is_discussions and path_working are both now maintained by me as VigdisdotterSo nothing changes, except the account name.

Catch you one the flip side!

PS give me an hour or two to get the new journal looking purdy :P

So I did it.  I discontinued my Delphi Plus membership over on a Delphi forums.  In doing so I won't lose me forums, BUT I will lose my mods, my color scheme and a number of other things about the forums.  Not a big deal since both have been quiet and I spend very little time over there any more.  However, I have moved one of them to LJ.  Intuitively Speaking can now be found at is_discussions and we will once more be talking about all things magickal, mystical and psychic.

Psychic, now there's a word with many bad connotations ^_^;;;

I bet you just got visions of some huckster with a crystal ball :P

No fluff, I promise.  Discussion is the main focus of the community and if someone doesn't agree with a posted ideas, that's okay.  It's the disagreements that make us think :)  In this case, 'psychic' refers to  mental abilities, be that intuition, empathy, dreams, working with tarot or what have you.  Psychic also has a lot of cross over with Magick and with Mystical or religious experiences.  So please don't' let the term scare  you off.

If you want to join us, that's great, if you like what you see, please post a link in your LJ and tell your friends about us :)

But it felt to good!

So yesterday I go down town to do my usual round of the used book stores.  I stop off at Dark Horse (my old tarot reading grounds) and talk to the owner (who is a LOT of fun to talk too).  He mentioned that he'd been to the Times Colonist Book Sale.  It's a fund raiser that the local paper puts on, with the money going to fund public school libraries and the like.  You can get paper backs for a buck, trade paper backs and hard covers for three dollars.

Needless to say and hauled ass down there.  The down side was....I got there only 8 minutes before it closed for the day (it's open again to day the that's it) but do you think that stopped me?  This is my Third one and I knew how they organized it.  So off I wen, got a box and started pawing through the books.  In the end I walked away with 14 books; one of which I took back to Dark Horse and sold there, cus I knew it was something the owner would be interested in.

So here is my loot list!

The Psychic Side of Dreams by Hans Holzer (up for trade)
The Healing Bag by Naomi Beth Wakan (a book of inspirational quotes, up for trade)
Medicine Woman by Lynn V. Andrews (a retelling of her "shamanic training", up for trade)
Living in the Light by Shakti Gawain (A self actualization book with eastern philosophy over tones, up for trade)
Witchcraft: Past and Present by Marika Kriss (a 1970s 'about witches' book.  I haven't vetted it yet do now sure how accurate it is.  Up for trade)
How To: Meet and Work With Spirit Guides by Ted Andrews (I wasn't sure if I had this one or not, so I grabbed it.  But it turns out that I do so it now up for trade)
Discover Your Psychic Powers by Tara Ward (I already own this, but I know someone that might like it and will trade for a book from her :P)
The Promise of a New Day, a Hazelden Meditations book (a book on daily mediations, already spoken for)
Astrology by Zodiac Press (which is the companion to another book I have on Horoscopes)
The 13 Original Clan Mothers by Jamie Sams (a native American focus of feminine spirituality, this one ins staying with me)
Buffalo Woman Comes Singing by Brooke Medicine Eagle (Another NA book, it looks at the medicine wheel, spirit healing and the like.  This one is also staying with me)
Witches, Pagans and Magic in the New Age by Kevin Marron (an interesting general book that I'm keeping as it has a chapter about the "Public Witches of Victoria BC" :P)
The Truth About Witchcraft Today by Scott Cunningham ( I picked up this one to replace the one that I ruined as it live din my car's trunk too long and got water damage)

There you have it :)

The one's marked as up for trade are just that, I wont' mind mailing them to people out of town.  What' I'm looking for it to trade a book for a book, although I will consider crystals and beading supplies.  So if you're interested, just email me and let me know.

My knee?  Well yeah.  It's still not happy to be sure.

But what really hurts is my fucking retarded family.

My knee is fucked.  I went to the doctor, he said wrap it, do as little stair climbing as possible and just take it easy.  I shouldn't even be going to work, but I am.

And I'm still doing the house work around here, or I was.

I use two hands to get up and down the stairs at home (14 STEEP monstrosities) so needless to say carrying anything down stairs is out of the question.  Like...say....Laundry?

So I used my mom's stair lift.  Got the load down, did the laundry.

Well guess what?  After I left, the stair lift apparently didn't work.  This happened before, my bro figured out how to fix it (super simple reset system) and I showed mom.  But she didn't reset it.  She didn't call me (I have a cell) and ask for help.  Oh no, she CRAWLED up the stairs.

And when I got home last night, my dad starts yelling at me.  Because after all it's ALL my fault.  Then tells me that I can't use the chair lift ever again.  "Fine, then I can't do laundry, I can't carry it down the stairs."  And he goes through the roof.

Then it happened again this morning.  And gods help me for daring to suggest that HE could carry the laundry down stairs FOR me.  Nope,it's MY job and since I told him I can't do it, well CLEARLY he doesn't have to use my rent money (which I gave his yesterday) to buy my any food, since I'm not doing my job.

<boggles>

The stupidity is MIND blowing.  And the sad thing is that I've been living with this all my fucking LIFE.

This month I finish paying off my debts and then I'm fucking OUT of here.

before work.  The doc said I'd only pulled a tendon and that I'd be fine in a week.

He suggested that I get a one-piece tensor bandage that you can just slip on and off.  So I did.  I measure my knee to make sure I got the right size, bought one, took it home and put it on under my jeans.

I swear it's made me knee worse!  Probably because the damn thing insists on rolling down every 20 fucking minutes!  I spent more of my day with my pants down as a pulled the damn thing up YET AGAIN.

<sigh>

Bro has a proper knee brace.  I'm going to give that a shot, though I have a feeling it might be a bit big.  But anything is better then that piece of crap I just wasted money on.

Oh and on the forum front, the twit in holistic health asked another question.  And then answered him in another post.  When I told him I couldn't figure out what he was saying, he informed me that he already knew the answer and that it was too bad that I didn't understand him.

So yeah, the twit apparently only ever wanted confirmation of his preconceived notions.  Surprise, surprise.

Oh well, I had to try.

So I really should have known better.

Today the boy had a Pro-D day so was home from school.  When I got to work I took them out to the skate park.  The boy was on roller blades (and had brought his skate board for later) and his friend had a skate board.  After watching them for a while, they talked me into letting them teach my to skate board.

*I* thought it would be standing me up on the thing and pushing me around.

Um...no.

It STARTED with them teaching me how to balance as I went DOWN the obstacles o.o  Now they DID start me out on the smallest ramp, but each time I successfully went down one, they'd move me onto a bigger one.  And of course during all of this I bailed more then a few times, to the protestation of my knee.

Then in the final hill, I bailed again, bu this time my knee had had enough and buckled.

I think something is pulled as it like to pretest moving, but I can put weight on it.  If it's still bugging me in the morning, I'll go to the clinic.

So yesterday I decided to stay home, go to bed early and generally just chill.

Well I got bored.  And I decide to check out a few other forums on About.com.

Dun-dun-dah!!!!

I went to Holistic Health and someone was asking "what is a witch."  So naturally I responded, "a practitioners of witchcraft."  Now this is usually a go response because one of two thing happens: a) they have an idea of what witchcraft is and the question is answer or b) they don't' know what witchcraft is as ask for clarification....thus bringing about discussion.

But oh no, nothing so simple this time.  No, this time I was accused of not answering the question and of being 'angry'.  Yeah, your guess is as good as mine.  Anyhow, got hat one straightened out and next the twit is saying that he's read the history of witches and witch persecution, but he can't figure out what people give him funny looks when he mentions witches.

*head.desk.bang.bang.bang*

THEN it was some clarification of "a witch that cannon harm, cannot heal" but it leaps to the conclusion that the only reason to throw a curse on someone was to learn how curses work.

Yeah, its' painful and mind boggling.

It's the Witches/Healing thread for anyone interested.

I know, I haven't updated in a while.  RL took over and then I got kind of apathetic.  Job is fine with the usual issues families have.  No, much of my energy has been foolishly going into an effort to get things cleaned up in my local pagan community.  But as the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

I pointedly asked that things be brought out in the open and clarified.  Not only was nothing answered, but more lies were perpetuated.  So I'm done.

People will find that which they need.  And if someone needs that kind of dwama to make them feel important, then I'll leave them too it.

I've got many other things I'd much rather put my energy into, like Wicca Class  :) and my own coffee night.  And if I work my finances right, I hope to be able to start taking Ninjutsu again.  All of that makes me very happy indeed <GRINS>

Oh the dangers of having a couple fingers of Bailey's before bed.  It seems to make my philosophical.

Anyhow you might notice that I have a new Icon.  I as looking for such earlier today.  And in my search I found MANY unicorns.  Now this made me smile.  To my mind unicorns are symbols of Purity and that's the LAST thing I consider myself to be.

And this lead to the question: what is purity?  After all, I have to be able to quantify it before I can say I'm not it, right?

Okay!  So...Purity is, at first glance, the state of being without sin.  Okay, but my religion has no concept of sin, so lets try again.  Purity is the state of all that is gentle and good.  Ad where the hell did that come from?  Oh yeah, Christian mythology.  Well that makes sense, I mean it's part of the Unicorn mythos.  But it doesn't work for my cuz I'm not Christian.  Let give it a third try.  Purity is the state of bliss attained when one has no bad/negative thoughts, feelings or experiences.  Now who would be able to live up that one???  I mean seriously.

Right, lets take this one from another angle.  Gods I love being me :) Cuz I CAN look at things in a nonstandard way.  Of course this is a bitch to explain to those that don't think as I do.  But I digress.

What if purity....it not a lack, but an accumulation?  What if it's a connection with the world?  And assimilation of all that is part of our universe.  Purity does not hate because ti understands.  And in that understanding, it knows that hate is a waste of precious time and energy.  Purity is love and compassion because it understands that these things will help itself by helping the one's around it.  Purity is a state of being, in which you are away of things, but also aware of how to stay above it if such is the best course of action.

Purity is...the enlightenment people seek.  But once found, it must be gifted to those around use by word and deed.  Only then does the state of purity actually mean something.
